Introduction to GRECO
The Green Economy Career Orientation (GRECO) project is an innovative initiative funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. GRECO aims to bridge the gap between youth employment and Europe's growing green economy sector. GRECO is at the forefront of fostering a more environmentally conscious and economically viable future by empowering youth workers with the knowledge and tools to guide young people towards sustainable careers.

Vision
“We envision a Europe where young people are not only aware of the opportunities in the green economy but are also equipped with the skills and knowledge to pursue them. We believe that by aligning youth employment with sustainable practices, we can contribute to both economic growth and environmental protection.” GRECO Project Team
Project Goals
- Develop a comprehensive curriculum for youth workers focused on green economy career guidance.
- Create a network of trained youth workers to guide young people towards green career paths.
- Establish a methodology for adapting green career training to local contexts across European regions.
- Foster collaboration between educational institutions, businesses, and policymakers to create more green job opportunities.
- Raise awareness about the potential of green careers among young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Current Project Status
As the GRECO project progresses, we're excited to share our progress and upcoming milestones. Here's where it stands and what's on the horizon:
Ongoing Activities
- Curriculum Piloting: Currently in the testing phase of our specially designed curriculum. Youth workers across our partner countries are implementing the training materials, providing invaluable real-world feedback.
- Pilot Report Preparation: As the piloting phase progresses, they meticulously document the outcomes, challenges, and successes. This report will be crucial for refining approach and sharing best practices.

Upcoming: Green Workforce Adaptation Methodology
The next major phase of the project focuses on developing and implementing the Green Workforce Adaptation Methodology. This crucial step will ensure that the training can effectively adapt to diverse local contexts across Europe. Here's what is planned:
Development of Key Tools
- Creating a template for presenting national and local green economy policies
- Designing questionnaires for green job providers and workers
- Developing guidelines for local project implementation
- Crafting a reporting template for local projects
Methodology Finalization
- Refining and finalizing Green Workforce Adaptation Methodology based on pilot feedback and partner input
LTTA in Patras, Greece (March 2025)
- Hosting a transnational meeting to introduce the finalized methodology
- Preparing youth workers for the implementation of local projects
- Facilitating knowledge exchange and best practices sharing among partners
Ongoing Youth Worker Support
- Organizing an interim online session to follow up on local project implementation
- Conducting a final online session upon project completion to gather overall insights
- Reviewing and providing feedback on youth workers' draft and final reports

Looking Ahead
As we progress through these stages, we're excited about the potential impact of the GRECO project. By equipping youth workers with specialized knowledge and tools, they're creating job opportunities and fostering a new generation of environmentally conscious professionals.
The Green Workforce Adaptation Methodology will be crucial in ensuring the training remains relevant and effective across different European contexts. It will allow them to tailor their approach to local green economy needs, maximizing the impact of their work.
We invite all stakeholders – from educational institutions to businesses and policymakers – to join us in this journey towards a greener, more sustainable Europe. Together, we can create meaningful opportunities for young people while contributing to the fight against climate change.
Stay tuned for more updates about projects across Europe!
